PACKAGING
The packaging of all of the Fairywill products is high quality and simple. There is no superfluous material included, and the various parts fit together neatly and in a way that conserves space. Only the plastic pouches containing the replacement heads appear to be recyclable. I like the simplicity and minimalistic style of the box and its contents. it.
CONTENTS
The box contains the electric toothbrush base, eight toothbrush heads, a travel case, and a charging USB cable. The charger comes with an adapter with two different attachments, one for Micro USB and one for USB-C. This means you can charge Android phones, eReaders and other rechargeable electronic devices with a single cable.
CHARGING
The charging cable does not come with a connector for electrical wall outlets. Perhaps the manufacturer considered this superfluous as most people already have these readily available for charging phones and other devices. There is some flexibility provided with the charging method, in that you could charge your toothbrush in your car, on an airplane, and anywhere you find a USB outlet. However, this toothbrush, when fully charged, will work for 30 days, so the need for charging “on the go” should be minimal.
A 30-day charge is great for traveling, especially if you consider that a couple could share the base and each use the toothbrush with his or her own head twice a day for a two-week vacation without needing to recharge. The included travel case does have space within for two heads, so it’s perfect for two people to share on a trip. Travel cases are important for keeping your toothbrush clean while traveling. The hard protective case also prevents the brush from being turned on inadvertently and wasting its charge.
DESIGN
The toothbrush itself has a simple, lightweight design that is, again, minimalistic in its approach. It contains only a single button for both power and setting adjustment. The eight replacement heads are quite generous, as most brushes include only two to four. This means that with twice-daily use, the average person would have at least a two-year supply of replacement toothbrush heads for this brush. After that, you can purchase replacement heads in a set of four for just $15. This is a great value!
CLEANING HEADS
It is important to replace toothbrush heads on electric toothbrushes for several reasons. First, the toothbrush bristles wear out and become less effective at plaque removal. Usually, this occurs around every three months with regular use, which is why we suggest replacing the head quarterly. Another important reason is that the bristles can harbor bacteria, fungus, and other microorganisms. You can sanitize the brush heads by placing them in the dishwasher, but most people find it simpler to just replace them. The toothbrush head replacements that accompany the P11 electric toothbrush are all soft-bristled, which is wonderful. I hold very strong opinions about toothbrush bristles, and it is my solid belief that no one should ever use medium or hard bristles. The risk for damage to the gums and exposed root surfaces is too high. These heads feel soft and gentle to the gums and teeth, with no risk for damage when used properly.
MY PERSONAL OPINION OF THE P11 TOOTHBRUSH
I am a huge proponent of electric toothbrushes. I see a difference in my patients’ gum health when they switch from manual to electric due to the electric toothbrush’s greater effectiveness at plaque removal. Long-term use of electric toothbrushes does help patients maintain good oral health. I use electric toothbrushes exclusively and only pick up a manual toothbrush if I need something very rudimentary. I no longer consider manual toothbrushes for my full oral hygiene routine.
The Fairywill P11 is a sonic toothbrush. This means that the movement of the brush is fast enough to create an audible hum (sonic just means sound). This usually equates to >50,000 movements per minute, and the P11 motor produces 62,000 movements per minute. The speed of the side-to-side motion of the toothbrush head improves the removal of plaque from the teeth. The brush also uses a two-minute timer with pauses every 30 seconds, to alert you when to move to a different area of the mouth. Ideally, each person should brush every quadrant of the mouth for 30 seconds

The toothbrush has three cleaning modes: clean, gentle, and massage, which you cycle through by pressing the power button. The clean mode uses the full 62K speed, and the gentle mode slows down to 56K (still a sonic speed). The massage mode alternates between the two speeds, giving a pulsing sensation. All of the modes are audible but quiet.
On first use, I found it difficult to tell which mode I was on as the indicator lights on the handle are not that obvious. After trying the various modes, I found that I prefer the massaging motion. It seems to produce better cleaning ability on my teeth. The cleaning ability is similar to that of other electric toothbrushes I have used. The high-quality frictionless motor and sonic speeds provide powerful cleaning ability and effective plaque removal. The ease of charging and the length of charge means this is a wonderful portable toothbrush. It is waterproof, so you can use it in the shower or bathtub. You can even drop it into your bath and not worry about ruining it.
We also see that many parents are reluctant to invest any significant amount of money in oral health products for their children, even though children could benefit greatly from an electric toothbrush. Children often do not have the manual dexterity to manipulate a toothbrush in a way that removes dental plaque. An electric toothbrush can perform the movements for them, leading to better plaque control.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I found the P11 to be a simple, affordable, and effective electric toothbrush. I do recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive upgrade from a manual toothbrush. It would be great for children, the elderly, or those with special needs to help them clean their teeth more effectively.
If I could change anything about it, I would add a small base that the charger cable could plug into, allowing me to stand it up on the countertop. I would also make the indicator lights more obvious to let you know which mode you are currently using.
